This year EuroDev’s business professionals attended once again the world’s largest medical tradeshow in Dusseldorf, Germany: the Medica. EuroDev joined their clients at their booths and assisted them in the organization, marketing campaigns, prospecting, and in meetings. EuroDev’s business professionals also met with companies which are looking to expand their sales activities into Europe during the four days.

Overall the show was a success for both our clients and EuroDev. This blog post is a compilation of the LinkedIn posts by Emre Aykac, EuroDev’s VP Healthcare.

Day #1

The start of the world’s largest medical tradeshow: Medica 2017. More than 5000 medical suppliers from all over the world come to Dusseldorf, Germany, this week to showcase their solutions and connect with their network. This year, 125.000+ visitors are expected to visit the show. EuroDev’s business development professionals from our medical unit are joining our principals at their booths. They were involved in the organization, marketing campaigns, prospecting, conducting meetings and offering the necessary support to make sure our principals develop valuable new relations and enjoy a productive show.

Day #2

medica 2017It was an exciting day for our American principals, full of meetings with existing clients, prospects and network partners. Our principals were supported by our medical business development professionals, who helped them with marketing campaigns and conducting meetings for the Medica. EuroDev also met with several North American companies that are looking to expand and take their European sales activities to the next level. We had meetings with companies active in the medical operating room and medical mobility market.

One company we visited manufactures pharmaceutical products. They have had a European sales office in the UK for 3 years now and developed a significant presence in the UK and Ireland. However, they are struggling to develop a footprint across mainland Europe. EuroDev will help them developing a customized plan to support their UK office and establishing a network across Europe.

EuroDev also met with a manufacturer of sports medicine. They have established several channel partners in different countries across Europe. Their solutions can be applied to different market channels, without causing channel conflicts and touching exclusive agreements. EuroDev will further discuss opportunities to help them with business development in Europe.

The day ended with a fun party with music and snacks organized by the US commercial service: good to end the day on a more informal note!

Day #3

After surviving the mass traffic, it was time for another exciting day with meetings. For several principals we generated and qualified exhibitors (potential customers).

After the qualification, our team scheduled sales meetings and visited their booths to establish new relationships. By enjoying EuroDev’s services, our principals receive a capable, dedicated, well trained team that can operate and conduct these sales meetings independently as their sales force extension in Europe. This saves effort, time and resources for our principals.

Next to meeting and discussing European expansion opportunities for North American medical suppliers, we also met with our network partners. Our CE regulatory partner kept us informed about the latest regulatory developments. A major change has recently been introduced by the EU. The change means the European authorized CE representatives and distributors will be liable for the operation and quality of the products being sold.

As our suppliers are already informed about this change, EuroDev will play a major role in managing the communications and instructions to the European channel partners of our principals.

Day #4

EuroDev at Medica 2017The last day of the annual largest medical tradeshow in the world. Like any other year, the last day of the show passed slower compared to the first 3 days. This allowed most exhibitors to walk around and visit others. Although it was the last day, meetings with new relations and leads were conducted. Our team together with our principals was present the whole day to support and conduct sales meetings.

Several meetings took place with North American companies looking to expand their sales activities across Europe. One of those companies is a manufacturer of medical measurement equipment. A young technology driven company currently active and growing in North America. They would like to get a better understanding of the European market and it´s regulations and reimbursements for their products.

They would like to understand the market shares of their competitors, their price structure, and the potential of their solutions in several European countries. EuroDev will continue with a discussion on their needs and objectives after the show and will develop a proposal to conduct a European market research.

Overall our principals can look back on a successful show. It were 4 very long days but the qualified meetings and connecting again with relations, and of course the German beer and food made it worthwhile. Our team did a good job in the overall management of the show, setting up and conducting meetings with high-profile, qualified leads.
