Upcoming Aerospace & Defense Events + Paris Air Show Recap

Insights on emerging aerospace and defense trends, including drones, electrification, and upcoming European trade shows.

Three weeks after the 2025 Paris Air Show wrapped, one thing is still crystal clear: the aerospace and defense industry is flying into a new era, and fast. Our VP, Fabio Macri, was on the ground for four days, bringing back firsthand insights that continue to shape the conversations we’re having with partners today.

While the Air Show is now behind us, it highlighted the major themes that will continue to shape the sector this year. And with several major events coming up this season, we’re keeping our focus on what’s next.

Drones, Electric, and What’s Shaping the Sky

One of the most visible trends was the explosion of drone technology. From nimble surveillance units to long-range cargo designs, drones are now central to defense innovation, not just an add-on.

We’re seeing a clear shift in priorities: sustainability is no longer the main narrative, but electrification remains key. All-electric aircraft are being repositioned as valuable in defense, especially for their lower infrared visibility and stealth potential.

While the French-German-Spanish FCAS consortium is debating how to accelerate the development of a sixth-generation fighter, amid Dassault’s push to reshape the partnership, the French Ministry of Defense has assigned AURA-AERO, a rising star in the European aerospace sector, to develop the first prototype of an ITAR-free MALE drone.

Spotlight on Youth and Startups

This year’s Air Show also had a different kind of energy: the future workforce was literally walking the aisles. A surprising number of high schoolers attended, signaling that aerospace is capturing the attention of the next generation. It’s promising, not just for recruitment, but for the long-term innovation ecosystem.

Startups, too, made a big impression. From unconventional aircraft designs to new propulsion systems, it’s clear the next wave of ideas won’t all be coming from the usual giants.

Boeing’s Absence and a Subtle Shift in Strategy?

One notable absence was Boeing’s usual flyover demonstration. While no official reason was shared, some speculate it may relate to ongoing safety recalibrations or a strategic pivot. Either way, it shifted the spotlight and left room for emerging players and alternative narratives.

What’s Next: EuroDev at Upcoming Trade Shows

As we move through Q3 and Q4, EuroDev will be present at several leading industry events across Europe:

  • MSPO (September | Poland) – International Defence Industry Exhibition
  • DSEI (September | London) – Global Defense & Security Technology
  • CANSEC Europe (Fall) – Defense and Security Innovation in Europe
  • MILIPOL (November | Paris) – Homeland Security and Safety Expo

These shows are important meeting points for both long-standing partners and new players in the market, offering fresh opportunities to exchange knowledge and explore cooperation.
